Words I Realized: Hompta

hompta  [hom-tuh] – the superhuman sense that one develops after using a handheld device while walking on a regular basis, which allows that person to be able to not bump into anything while looking down at the device

No.  Don’t get all high and mighty on me and tell me to watch where I’m going, because five minutes from now, you’re going to be walking while texting and doing the exact same thing.  Hypocrisy at its finest.  Everyone does this, yet people always look down on others who they see texting and not paying attention to anything going on in front of them.   So don’t hate, because you do it too.  In general you shouldn’t hate on people.  Except people who do this.  You can hate them.

Having gotten his first cell phone at a late age, Roy never quite developed a strong sense of hompta, but conversely, he was great at cooking salmon, which is why he and Carrie made such a great couple, given her ability to text while walking and her love of salmon.

Wait, hompta?? I don’t get it… Can you explain?

Special Thanks To Craig Cohen, whose history with the hompta can be traced back to 1991 when he got his first Gameboy.
